Ben Young

Ben Young, son of Dawn Barding and Stuart & Carrie Young, is a recipient of the Julius L. Burtschi Scholarship. Ben plans to attend Saint Louis University and study to become a doctor helping young children fight diabetes.

On September 7, 1989, Mary Bretz endowed a $100,000 scholarship in memory of her father Julius Burtschi. Students with the highest scholarship ranking from each of the catholic grade schools in Decatur are eligible for consideration. The selected candidate is eligible to retain the award for all four years.
